Since 1884, Bulgari has been setting the pace for Italian style in jewelry. Pure luxury obtained by means of daring combinations, precious materials, purity of design and meticulous attention to detail. This uncompromising standard can be found in all of Bulgari's creations -- jewelry, watches, handbags, leather goods, gifts and fragrance -- which will be showcased in their first New Jersey boutique at The Mall at Short Hills.
The name is usually written "BVLGARI" in ancient Roman style as a nod to Greek founder Sotirios Boulgaris, a forward-looking, creative spirit who drew inspiration from the timeless beauty of Greek and Roman art while giving it a distinctive contemporary touch -- Greek like its founder and Roman like the culture he embraced. Quality and excellence are the basis of Bulgari's culture, and excellence for Bulgari means the perfect balance between top quality products and impeccable services worldwide. The concept of excellence is based on four main points: outstanding quality, distinctive style, outstanding products and customer delight.
Now open through the holiday season, ChildsPlaySpot offers adorable, award-winning toys for children from birth to age 12. Originally an online store, ChildsPlaySpot was founded by Richard Holden, a "disillusioned and clueless" grandparent who founded the company with a vision to offer high-quality educational toys for infants, toddlers and young children and a place for its youngest visitors to play interactive games that are fun and educational. "The 'Playspot' is the place to bring your young children to play games that teach and entertain. And the best part is the time you spend there with your kids," says Holden.
The Mall at Short Hills' ChildsPlaySpot is only the second location in New Jersey, and will be open through January 2009. Customers can shop for the toys and brands their children love, including Alex, American Girl, Baby Einstein, Groovy Girls, Jibbitz, KidKraft, Lamaze, Leap Frog, LEGO, Melissa and Doug, Playmobil, Robeez, Safari, Scientific Explorer, Thomas the Tank Engine and Webkinz.
Also open through the holiday season, Day By Day Calendar Co. features hundreds of calendars, journals, gifts & stationery. An ever popular holiday gift, Day By Day Calendar Co. has a calendar for everyone -- Ansel Adams, cats, crafts, Dilbert, Disney, dogs, Elvis, Engelbreit, The Far Side, firefighting, folk art, football, Harley Davidson, horses, islands and beaches, kids, knitting, Lang Folk Art, local interest, mind and body, NASCAR, national parks, pop culture, Thomas Kinkade and travel ... to name just a few. Customers can also shop for baby planning, family organization and scrapbooking items.
Back again for a second holiday season, Mostly Chocolate will offer the finest in premium chocolate specialties from around the world, including decadent chocolates and unique treasures including custom gift baskets, chocolate covered coffee beans, 100% columbian coffee, Panettone, Pandoro and Siciliana Italian holiday breads, gift tins, advent calendars and more.
Inspired by beauty and sophistication, Salvatore Ferragamo is one of the world's most prestigious Italian fashion houses, now showcasing their brand of shoes, Ready-To-Wear, accessories and leather goods in their store on the upper level near Bloomingdale's. "The Mall at Short Hills is an important destination for high-end luxury good shopping," states Vincent Ottomanelli, President of Ferragamo USA. "The customer understands and appreciates the qualities that define the Ferragamo house - quality, style, tradition and innovation. We are delighted to be able to offer our customers an all-inclusive Ferragamo experience in this center," he added.
Born in Italy in 1898, Salvatore Ferragamo made his first pair of shoes at age nine and discovered he found his calling. After studying shoe making for a year, he opened a small store in his parents home and eventually moved to California where he found success, initially opening a shop for repair and made-to-measure shoes, which soon became prized items among celebrities of the day. After spending 13 years in the U.S., Ferragamo retreated back to Italy in 1927 and began to fashion shoes for the wealthiest and most powerful women of the century, from Eva Peron to Marilyn Monroe. In 1929 he opened his own workshop and expanded his operation and by the 1950's had a workforce of approximately 700 expert artisans that produced 350 pairs of handmade shoes a day.
Salvatore Ferragamo died in 1960 at the age of 62, but his name lives on in his international company. Ferragamo was always recognized as a visionary and his designs ranged from the strikingly bizarre to the traditionally elegant, often serving as the main inspiration to other footwear designers of his time and beyond.
